As we start 2021 in another national lockdown, most of us will find ourselves working from home (again!) which can be extremely challenging.

Thankfully, there are some simple things that we can do to keep us motivated and positive during this difficult time……

LISTS

Start your day right with a list of ‘to do’s’ and as each one is complete, tick them off! This will help give structure and efficiency to your day and keep you feeling on top of your workload.

The satisfaction when you accomplish your list (even if it is just making a sandwich and getting through a zoom meeting) is a real positive step and will keep you motivated.

COMMUNICATE

Sitting at your desk on your own all day can be lonely and draining, so it is important to make time to communicate with others.

Why not set up a group chat on WhatsApp or ask your colleagues, friends and family to have a catch up over Zoom?

We are so lucky that we have all these different platforms to stay in contact with people so make sure you use them daily!

EXERCISE

The government guidelines state that we can get out once a day to exercise with one other person so take advantage of this when you can whether it be an early morning run, a lunch time walk or an early evening bike ride.

Just 20 minutes of exercise each day is proven to make us feel better and the fresh air will help to revitalise and recharge your batteries!

Participation in regular physical activity can increase our self-esteem[11] and can reduce stress and anxiety.[12] It also plays a role in preventing the development of mental health problems[13] and in improving the quality of life of people experiencing mental health problems.[14]Mental Health Foundation

REGULAR BREAKS

Take regular 5-minute breaks from work to refresh your mind and refocus.

Make yourself that well deserved cuppa that you have been thinking about all day or run the hoover around for a few minutes to your favourite tune to get another job ticked off your list and take a well needed break from work.

STOP SCROLLING

Whilst working at home, it is easy to get distracted and check up on what everyone else in the world is up to on our socials.

We must be mindful that everyone is coping with COVID-19 as best they can and we are all in different situations. Some people may be working more, less, or not at all, but we shouldn’t let that effect how we feel. So, try and stay off those popular social media platforms during the working day and keep focusing on your positives!

We have done this before, and we will do it again so let us stay positive, stay safe and we will all get through this together!

Take care,
The Nexus Collections Team
